10月27日、フランス・パリで 2nd Franco–Japanese Workshop on Metallomics を開催しました。日本側からは十数名にご参加いただき、両国あわせて二十数名が集い、メタロミクス研究に関する活発な意見交換を行いました。前夜にはフランス料理のディナーで親睦を深め、当日は研究の現状と今後の連携の可能性について幅広く議論しました。ご協力・ご参加くださった皆さまに心より御礼申し上げます。また、 International Symposium on Metallomics（ISM-10） に引き続き参加し、地球科学から文化財修復に至るまで、微量金属の役割や解析手法に関する多彩な講演から大きな刺激を受けました。アメリカ留学時代のボスとも久々に再会でき、学術的にも私的にも非常に充実した一週間となりました。会場の École Normale Supérieure 周辺は、マリー・キュリーが創設したキュリー研究所や Rue Gay-Lussac（ゲイ＝リュサック通り）など、科学の歴史が息づくエリア。パリの美しい街並みは、ただ歩くだけでも心を豊かにしてくれます。
On October 27, we held the 2nd Franco–Japanese Workshop on Metallomics in Paris, France. A dozen-plus colleagues joined from Japan, and in total more than twenty participants from both countries gathered for a lively exchange of ideas on metallomics. On the evening before the workshop, we strengthened ties over a French dinner, and on the day we discussed the current state of our research and opportunities for future collaboration. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported and took part. We also continued on to attend the International Symposium on Metallomics (ISM-10), where a diverse program of talks – from Earth sciences to cultural heritage conservation – on the roles of trace metals and analytical methodologies proved highly inspiring. I was delighted to reconnect with my former supervisor in the United States, making it a very fulfilling week both academically and personally. Around the École Normale Supérieure, the venue area is steeped in the history of science—with the Curie Institute founded by Marie Curie and Rue Gay-Lussac right nearby. The beautiful streetscapes of Paris enrich the spirit simply by walking through them.
