私たちの研究室にとって、2026年度は新しいことがいくつか始まります。今は「嵐の前の静けさ」のような感じです。
For our laboratory, several new developments will begin in fiscal year 2026. At the moment, it feels like the “calm before the storm.”
まず、和歌山県立医科大学より佐々木大輔さんが准教授として加わります。佐々木さんは構造解析を専門とされていて、大学院研究組織である「蛋白質構造機能・AI分子創成創発センター」の一員としても活躍されます。
First, Dr. Daisuke Sasaki will join us as an Associate Professor from Wakayama Medical University. Dr. Sasaki specializes in structural biology and will also be active as a member of the Graduate Research Organization, the “Emerging Center for Protein Structure, Function and AI-Driven Molecular Design.”
次に、新４年生として荒川君・谷川さん・野口さんが、派遣職員として横溝さんが加わります。新たなアイデアと面白い実験結果を生み出してくれることを期待しています。
Next, Arakawa-kun, Tanigawa-san, and Noguchi-san will join us as new undergraduate students, and Yokomizo-san will join as a staff member. We look forward to the new ideas and exciting experimental results they will bring.
そして、第64回日本生物物理学会年会は、韓国の関連学会との共催により、ICBBS2026として11月に韓国・釜山で開催されます。古川も実行委員の一人として参画しています。4月13日から5月31日までポスター発表を募集しておりますので、ぜひご参加ください。
In addition, the 64th Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society of Japan will be jointly held with related Korean societies as ICBBS2026 in Busan, Korea, this November. Furukawa is serving as a member of the organizing committee. Poster submissions will be accepted from April 13 to May 31, and we warmly encourage your participation.
最後に、今年度より学術変革領域研究（A）「元素生命学」が採択され、私たちも計画研究として本領域に参画することになりました。「元素生命学」は、東京大学の藤原徹先生を領域代表として、「生物は環境に応じて利用する元素の種類やその使い方を変える」という新しい概念の構築を目指す、生命科学と地球科学が融合した新たな学問分野です。これまで参画してきた新学術領域研究「生命金属科学」に続き、引き続きどうぞよろしくお願いいたします。
Finally, the Grant-in-Aid for Transformative Research Areas (A), “Element-based Biology,” has been selected for funding starting this fiscal year, and we will participate as a planned research group. Led by Prof. Toru Fujiwara of the University of Tokyo, this project aims to establish a new concept: that living organisms change both the types of elements they use and how they use them depending on their environment. This emerging field integrates life science and earth science. Building on our previous participation in the Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas, “Integrated Bio-metal Science,” we look forward to your continued support and collaboration.
